Dispose-a-Med National Prescription Drug Take Back Day on Sept. 25
Bring unused prescription or over-the-counter medicine for safe disposal. This event is part of a nationwide effort.
Where: Wal-Mart, 18680 S. Nogales Hwy
Date: Saturday, September 25
Time: 10 a.m. - 2 pm.
"The National Prescription Drug Take-Back campaign will provide a safe way for Americans to dispose of their unwanted prescription drugs," Drug Enforcement Administration Acting Administrator Michele Leonhart said in a statement. "This effort symbolizes DEA's commitment to halting the disturbing rise in addiction caused by their misuse and abuse."
Medicines in home cabinets are highly susceptible to diversion, misuse, and abuse, the DEA says, adding that studies show a majority of abused prescription drugs are obtained from family, friends, and the home medicine cabinet.
The Town of Sahuarita Dispose-a-Med is brought to you by the Sahuarita Police Department with assistance by the Sahuarita VIPs, Sahuarita Public Works, The Optimist Club and Green Valley Fire District.
