Celebrate “Beyond Sahuarita” on January 7 at Anamax Park

Join fellow citizens on Saturday, January 7, 2012, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Beyond Sahuarita at Anamax Park. Beyond is part of a regional effort started by the extended family of slain Congressional Aide, Gabe Zimmerman, to foster a healthy future by promoting fun outdoor and educational activities that are good for body, mind, and spirit.

Beyond commemorates and celebrates loved ones injured and lost on January 8, 2011. People will come together on January 7, 2012, to remember what happened, acknowledge how it changed us, and commit to building a stronger community. People can join in the Beyond day for healthy, fun, safe, and inclusive outdoor events. Engage in activities that are good for your mind, body, and spirit!

Come join us for "organized recess" for people of all ages: Tai Chi, tumbling, yoga, dance, an “in the park” hike, children’s face painting and a host of other fun educational and artistic activities.  People are encouraged to also visit the supervised Sensory & Imagination Playground.

Pima County Public Library Bookmobile will be visiting Anamax Park.  Librarians and volunteers will be reading some of the favorite stories of Gabe Zimmerman and Christina Taylor Green.   Additionally, “Say No to Bullying” will be a theme of the event.

Participants and volunteers are asked to bring non-perishable food or checks to support the local community food bank.

There will also be Beyond activities at La Posada in Green Valley on January 7. Please register for the Sahuarita event at www.beyond-tucson.org and click on the Anamax Park link.
