Two General Plan Amendments initiated

July 2012 - The Town of Sahuarita has initiated two General Plan Amendments.

  • The first General Plan Amendment application, (SA7-12-00002 - click to view) revises the General Plan land use designations for 10,575 acres of land east of the current Town limits. This General Plan Amendment includes 10,400 acres of land, also known as “16 Sections of State Trust Land” that was adopted into the Town’s General Plan on October 27, 2008, and includes an additional 175 acres of land.
  • The second General Plan Amendment application, (SA7-12-00001 - click to view) identifies sources of aggregate and creates policies to protect those sources of aggregate in order to meet the requirements of Arizona Senate bill 1598. This General Plan Amendment creates new land use policies to help protect sources of aggregates within the Town.

The cases are currently in 60-day review. Following the review period the Town will hold public hearings before the Planning and Zoning Commission and Town Council with the first public hearing anticipated to be held in October.
