Come celebrate your Town’s birthday on Saturday, September 25, 3-8 p.m.,
at Anamax Park, with inflatables for children, games and activities, and live entertainment with headliner band “The Collectors” and dance groups. Admission is free and open to the public. With over 6,000 in attendance in 2009, the Parks and Recreation Department expects even more this year. There will be 60 vendors including food, non-profits, local businesses, games and crafts. And don’t miss the Skateboard Competition, 3-7 p.m., hosted by the Sahuarita Teen Advisory Council.
“Since incorporating in 1994, the Town of Sahuarita has grown from a small rural community into a modern and emerging Town of 25, 000,” says Mayor Lynne Skelton. “Fiesta Sahuarita is our signature event—a place where the whole Town comes together to celebrate.” She continues that it’s important for a young Town like Sahuarita to bring together people from all neighborhoods: from the pioneer family neighborhoods and ranches to master-planned communities built within the last five or ten years. “People of all ages have a fantastic time at Fiesta,” says the Mayor recalling past events.
To start the day, The Fiesta Sahuarita 5k race and 1 Mile Family Fun Run/Walk will be held the morning of September 25. The race starts at Anamax Park, 17501 S. Camino de las Quintas. This flat course through the surrounding neighborhoods practically guarantees a personal record! The 1-mile event begins at 8:00 a.m., and the 5k starts at 8:30 a.m. The race is coordinated by Tagg Running Events, the premier race organizer in Arizona.
The Fiesta Sahuarita 5k run benefits the Great Expectations Academy. Register by September 10, and receive a free t-shirt. Entry fees: 5k - $25.00; Family Fun Run $15.00 (each participant) Participants can register online via active.com, or print out a race entry form HERE
