The 6th Annual Logo Design Contest
17-YEAR OLD SAMANTHA REED WINS 2012 FIESTA SAHUARITA LOGO DESIGN CONTEST
Samantha Reed, from the 11th grade art class at Sahuarita Edge High School, won the 2012 Fiesta Sahuarita Logo Design Contest. The Parks and Recreation Commission selected her colorful design depicting a three tier birthday cake with the number 18 on top with bubbles around the design. This logo will be used to promote this year’s Fiesta Sahuarita event. Mr. Brian Bill was the art class teacher.
For her winning design, Samantha won a $100 savings bond donated by Hughes Federal Credit Union. Kellie Terhune-Neely, Vice President Marketing from Hughes Federal Credit Union has coordinated this donation for the fifth consecutive year. Samantha Reed was presented with the savings bond at the beginning of the Parks & Recreation Commission Meeting on Wednesday, June 6. She received the saving bond from Kellie Terhune-Neely, Richard Ducote of Freeport-McMoRan Copper, and Parks and Recreation Commissioners Laura Acosta, Dave Clark, Gary Friedman, Chairperson Diane Huckins, Vince Luna, Antwon Saunders, and Ben Vaterlaus.
Fiesta Sahuarita marks the 18th anniversary of the Town’s incorporation in 1994, when the community of Sahuarita voted to become a town. There are rides, games, contests, food, bands, and much more. Everyone is invited and there is no charge to attend. This year’s Fiesta Sahuarita will be held on September 29, 2012, 1:00p.m. - 9:00 p.m., at Anamax Park.
