Fiesta Sahuarita Walk and Run Starts the Harvest Your Fitness Fall Challenge

This year the Town of Sahuarita Parks and Recreation Department, the Parks and Recreation Commission, Valle Verde Rotary Club, and the United Way of Tucson and Southern Pima County will kick off the 2010 “Sahuarita Harvest Your Fitness Fall Challenge.”  This challenge will promote exercise, fitness and better nutrition for all participants in order to encourage healthy lifestyles and fight obesity.

The Fitness Fall Challenge runs between Fiesta Sahuarita on September 25, and the Pecan Festival, November 20 and 21. Participants will sign up before Fiesta, and then find their “baseline” time at the Fiesta Sahuarita 1-Mile fun walk.  Participants will meet every week for a fun, educational session covering nutrition, fitness, stretching, and developing a healthy lifestyle.  At the end of eight weeks, participants can choose to run in the Pecan 5k running race, or do the one-mile family fun run/walk. There will be a modest fee to participate to cover the cost of the run/walk races. Organizers encourage families to participate together, and of course, individuals are always welcome.
