Registered Sex Offenders
The purpose of the Sahuarita sex offender link is to provide information to the public concerning the location of sex offenders within the Town of Sahuarita. This is NOT intended to supplant the community notification process, but rather, it allows the criminal justice community to promote public awareness concerning the potential threat that sex offenders pose to Sahuarita citizens. Furnishing the public with information regarding convicted sex offenders is a critical step towards encouraging the public to protect themselves from potential future acts.
The Sahuarita Police Department will conduct a home visit and risk assessment on all sex offenders that move into town limits. A risk assessment is a screening tool designed to provide criminal justice practitioners with the ability to predict a sex offender's risk of recidivism. The Arizona risk assessment evaluates nineteen different criteria that have been identified by treatment experts as good predictors of future behavior. Each criterion is evaluated and assigned a point value, which ultimately is totaled for recommending an appropriate community notification level of 1, 2, or 3.
The Sahuarita Police Department shall maintain this internet sex offender website for offenders whose risk assessment has been determined to be a level two or level three. These two levels are classified as an intermediate to high recidivism risk. The Sahuarita police department shall annually verify the addresses of all sex offenders who live within the town of Sahuarita so that we may keep the community informed and promote public awareness.

Sign Up for Emergency Alerts
A regional emergency alert system is available throughout Pima County: Safety Alert GPC
“SafetyAlertGPC,” similar to an outbound 911, allows residents to sign up for emergency and severe weather alerts by voice, text and e-mail for a variety of situations.
Emergency responders and public safety personnel can use “SafetyAlertGPC” for
additional notification of a situation that immediately threatens lives and property.
“SafetyAlertGPC” can also be used for notice of regional flooding, natural gas outages
and service restoration, electrical outages, chemical spills, and public health crises, instances when communication to residents has a high priority.
System options allow responders to customize a notification for an affected area
by jurisdiction, zip code, neighborhood and geographical boundaries,
street and road parameters, etc.
The Tucson Urban Areas Security Initiative (TUASI) is overseeing
“SafetyAlertGPC” implementation and operation. This vital service has been funded by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.
“SafetyAlertGPC” is established in the jurisdictions of Pima County, City of Tucson,
City of South Tucson, Town of Marana, Town of Oro Valley, Town of Sahuarita,
